Franco "El Gorila"
Franco "El Gorila" is one of the newest artists to hits the charts under WY Records. Born in Trijullo Alto, Puerto Rico, Luis Fransico Cortez, who currently uses the stage name Franco "El Gorila"began in the underground business making music with producer Tony Touch. During this time, Franco "El Gorila" used the stage name, Franco Flex. It was not until Franco became part of the label Sangre Nueva Musica that he began calling himself "El Gorila." At this same time, Wisin y Yandel were making the transition over to WY Records, but had currently been signed under Sangre Nueva Musica. They were quickly becoming the hottest artists in reggaeton and were looking for new ways to make WY Records unique. During his time under Sangre Nueva Musica, Franco "El Gorila" chose to work with another duo under the record label and together the trio collaborated and released the song "Give Me Work." This song became a success, and Wisin y Yandel recognized the talent of Franco "El Gorila." After the release of "Give Me Work," Wisin y Yandel invited Franco "El Gorilla" to do a song with them for the album they were currently working on entitled Pa'l Mundo. The song was entitled "The Company," and was written to send a message out to Archangel, another reggaeton artist, who was a rival to the artists under WY Records. After the release of "The Company, Franco "El Gorila" signed with WY Records has currently released "Welcome to the Jungle," his first solo album.
